Runners Raise Two Thousand Pounds for www.lovestoke.org!
PRESS RELEASE - 15TH JUNE 2009
On Sunday 14th July, seven runners took part in the Potters' 'Arf Marathon to raise
cash for www.lovestoke.org. It was a hot day and all our guys completed the race,
with extremely respectable times!
It is estimated that around £2,000 was raised in sponsorship by these guys and
www.lovestoke.org is so grateful for the effort that every one of them put in. Also,
nine volunteers from www.lovestoke.org acted as marshals around the course, ensuring
everyone went in the right direction! Huge thank you to them all for helping out.
There was plenty of support for them all around the course, with the City Gathering
at Bethel City Church finishing early to go out and cheer on the runners, who
themselves are members of the church. It has come back that the crowd at Bethel City
Church was the loudest around the course!
All in all, it was a great day to be a part of, in any capacity and
www.lovestoke.org is very thankful to the event organisers for allowing
www.lovestoke.org to be involved in such a way!
Volunteers Come Together to Help and Treat at Christmas
PRESS RELEASE - 16TH DECEMBER 2008
On Saturday 13th December around 25 volunteers from www.lovestoke.org came together to help and bless a mother and baby unit in the city. It was a fantastic day, resulting in huge hampers and homemade mince pies being delivered to the unit in the late afternoon.
Volunteers worked at the When… Distribution Centre where they picked out clothes for the mums and babies and then wrapped them up and put them in large wicker baskets, one for each mother and baby. In total, there were nearly 45 bundles of presents to deliver!
Meanwhile, using the Bethel City Church kitchen, another team of volunteers, including children, made over 100 mince pies and wrapped some up to give to the mothers.
Other volunteers actually went to the unit and spent time with the mothers and babies, chatting and hanging out.
It was a great day and one that everyone agreed was well worth spending the afternoon on.
